Kollar Attila: "This compilation was created from those songs where the author was me or I was one of the authors of these songs. It wasn’t so easy to chose 16 compositions from our last 36 years, because a lot of song are very close to my heart! But I know there are some real milestones during my musical career. The first five compositions of the album are definitly new songs or new recordings, which previously were not published…

Cardiff singer of the world competition winner Tommi Hakala, baritone, Pia Freund, soprano and Kristian Attila, piano, perform Sibelius “hits” that have become especially dear to them. Examples are Säv, säv susa (Sigh, Rushes, Sigh), Illalle (To Ilta) and Var det en dröm? (Was it a Dream?). Some of the songs are truly rare; these include En visa (A Song), which despite its serious message shows a very exceptional, relaxed and jovial Sibelius. It is also the first Lied he allowed to be published, and it dates from 1888. Examples of songs that are interesting in an unusual way are Marssnön (The March Snow), which comes very close to a Scandinavian folk song, and I natten (In the Night), with its simply evocative and impressionistic moods.

Whatever the cost, and whatever the means…It is the age of a chosen few, an age of greatness, when the first true kings built vast kingdoms from the ashes of past empires… it is the Age of Charlemagne. The year is 768AD and, after the death of his father, Charlemagne is to share the Frankish throne alongside his brother. A situation that ill-befits a man of his vision, and their relationship clouds as he feels the fiery blood of his grandfather, Charles Martel, stir in his veins.
