Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko is the latest in a group of young performers championed by the revived Sony Classical label. She's got personality to spare, and, from the looks of the pictures, charisma, too. Arabesque seems to be an album designed to showcase her suitability for a wide variety of roles; the program runs from Mozart forward through the 19th century and includes the Italian, French, and German languages (not that you get any of the texts in the CD booklet).

On her new album “Russian Light”, Olga Peretyatko presents favourite arias and songs from her homeland Russia – by Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rachmaninov, Stravinsky and Shostakovich. Many of them are well known (Rachmaninov’s Vocalise) but there are also unknown rare jewels on the album like the songs from Rachmaninov or the opera arias by Shostakovich. She teamed with the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the best orchestras in Russia, and excellent for this kind of repertoire with conductor Dimitry Liss, specialist for this repertoire.

This is an opera that few tenors dare sing and which Florez has made his own throughout his career. There are a lot of high Cs and more than a few elaborate rages. Corradino is head-strong and not too smart (well, he is a tenor). Though of course Juan Diego is nothing if not smart, and very famous for his high Cs. This combination of character and singer is exploited to perfection by Mr. Florez in minimal moves and maximal voice and musicianship.” – Opera Today (of the 2012 Pesaro production)…

Early Rossini has a youthful, buoyant vibrancy about it, even in the dark swirls of drammi per musica like Sigismondo. The work, centered on a mad king and his delusions, was rarely played after its premiere in 1814. This performance marked the first from the critical new edition at the 2010 Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and was hailed as a "perfect symbiosis of music and stage work" resulting in "truly brilliant theatre." Complete with a cast of sought-after Rossini singers, this is not to be missed.

Olga Peretyatko combines a beautiful and versatile soprano voice with a charming personality and an overwhelming stage presence. Whenever she’s on the stage, she conquers the audience. On her new album, Rossini, the acclaimed soprano sings some of Rossini’s best-known arias. Rossini has played and continues to play a significant role in Peretyatko’s career. It was at the Rossini in Wildbad Festival in 2006 in Italy where she was cast in two pivotal roles in Il Viaggio a Reims – performing the role of Corinna on one night, and Contessa di Folleville on the next – and after the performances, was offered a contract to appear the following year. These are the first two arias on the Rossini album, and they are directly connected to this story and its emotional resonance: it was the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Alberto Zedda that accompanied Peretyatko when she made her stunning debut in Italy, and they join her again on this album.

In 2011 Russian soprano Olga Peretyatko showed herself an impressively versatile artist on her début CD, ‘’La bellezza del canto.’’ On her second album, “Arabesque”, where she is accompanied by the NDR Sinfonieorchester (NDR Radio Symphony Orchestra) under the baton of Enrique Mazzola, she again casts her net wide, from sophisticated bel canto to light music. In addition to arias by Verdi, Bellini and Strauss, Ms Peretyatko, has recorded pieces by the French composers, Gounod and Bizet. Also, for the first time on disc we hear her singing Mozart, one of her favourite composers. Her recital includes Mozart’s concert aria K. 538, “Ah se in ciel, benigne stele,” as well as Donna Anna’s dramatic coloratura aria “Crudele…non mi dir” fromDon Giovanni, and Susanna’s idyllic “Rose aria” from The Marriage of Figaro.
