Five centuries, seven languages, and six singers with 35 years of remarkable experience inform this rare collection of choral music. In the world-renowned King's Singers resplendent voices, ancient and modern choral music comes to life with all the blazing immediacy and timeliness of the gospel of the nativity. With 25 pieces of music–ranging from familiar works such as "Coventry Carol" to the obscure Tchaikovsky piece "The Crown of Roses"–the King's Singers move through this hallowed and festive set with the vocal mastery that only three-and-a-half decades of accomplished work together is capable of creating. A number of contemporary carols written in the last century by composers such as John McCabe, Philip Lawson, John Rutter, and others are balanced by pieces by Bach and a host of traditional works. Lawson's "You Are the New Day," performed with a string quartet, stands out as one of the more notable performances. Like most of their music throughout Christmas, it reminds listeners that the art of music often interprets divine aspects gladly realized here on Earth.

Publisher: Wiley-Interscience; 1 edition (January 24, 2003) | ISBN: 0471176222 | Pages: 392 | PDF | 4.82 MB

The chapters in this second Volume of the second era of Topics in Stereochemistry reflect the breadth of subdisciplines for which stereochemistry is of fundamental importance. I am particularly pleased that these chapters continue the precedent set by those in Volume 22 for their scholarship, timeliness and scope. The discovery and development of fullerenes created unprecedented opportunities in both fundamental and applied chemistry. Although the intrinsic chirality of the higher fullerene spheroids was recognized early on, the consequences of modification with chiral groups as well as substitution to create chiral structures have only been fully realized in recent years. The first chapter by Carlo Thilgen, Isabelle Gosse and Fran¸cois Diederich provides an insightful and thorough analysis of the origins of fullerene chirality complete with a systematic classification of structural types. Each family of chiral fullerenes is amply illustrated and discussed not only for the structural novelty but also potential applications. Now liberated from the confines of tetrahedral carbon, the fullerene molecules provide fascinating new scaffolds for chiral structures. This chapter exemplifies how the importance and consequences of chirality pervade all molecular science even as new universes of compounds are discovered.

Publisher: Hart Publishing (UK) | Edition: 2008 | ISBN: 1841138274 | PDF | 1 121 pages | 7,42 MB

Hart Publishing is pleased to announce that it has recently become publisher of this prestigious and much valued work. The 15th Annual volume in the series collects the presentations and discussion from the Annual Fordham IP Conference. The contributions, by leading world experts, analyze the most pressing issues in copyright, trademark and patent law as seen from the perspectives of the USA, the EU, Asia and WIPO. This volume, in common with its predecessors, seeks to make a lasting contribution to discourse in IP law; few of the chapters are merely descriptive, and most raise questions of policy or discuss new developments. Praise for the Fordham International Intellectual Property Conference: "This must be one of the most enjoyable and thought-provoking conferences in the IP field. The high quality of the speakers is matched by the intense, audience-led debates and challenges which follow." Hugh Laddie, (formerly Mr. Justice Laddie) University College, London and consultant to Rouse & Co, Willoughby & Partners. "Faculty for this conference are always well-known 'names' well respected leaders in their fields, speaking with a combination of candor and timeliness that is unrivaled by any other forum of its kind." The Honorable Marybeth Peters, Register of Copyrights, United States Copyright Office.
