After the multi-million selling "A Whiter Shade of Pale," Procol Harum coalesced around a new line-up and cut a debut album in two days, the sales of which were only fair (because the hit song wasn't on it originally)…

In 1905, singer Nora Bayes (Ann Sheridan) impresses songwriter and performer Jack Norworth (Dennis Morgan) at a cabaret run by Dan Costello. Jack offers to get Nora an audition for vaudeville, unaware of Dan's feelings for her. After Nora rejects Dan's proposal, he purposely breaks up the audition, but Jack finds Nora another performing job. Eventually Jack and Nora team up successfully, but Dan continues to interfere any way that he can – including trying to steal Jack's best tune.

As an album, "Shine on Brightly" is somewhat of a concept piece. It seems to chronicle the fall and subsequent rise of an ordinary individual as he/she progresses through paranoia and insanity to self actualization and nirvanic bliss. This journey is summarized in the epic eighteen minute "In Held 'Twas In I." But, more on that masterpiece in a moment…

Esoteric Recordings are proud to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the classic 1968 album by PROCOL HARUM. Released in the UK in December 1968, "Shine on Brightly" followed on from the huge international success in 1967 of the band's debut single 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' and the follow up single 'Homburg' and built on the creative path begun on Procol Harum's self-titled debut album issued in January 1968. Gary Brooker (voice, piano), Robin Trower (lead guitar), David Knights (bass guitar), B.J. Wilson (drums) and Matthew Fisher (Hammond organ) took the music of the band to new heights with this, their second album. Dominated by the 17-minute epic suite 'In Held 'Twas in I', Procol Harum re-wrote the rule book of popular music with the material written and recorded for "Shine On Brightly".

It is 1978 and Climax Blues Band is at the peak of its powers during a happy golden era when rock bands rule. They had hit the charts the previous year with funky single ‘Couldn’t Get It Right’ and they get it right on again with shiny new album ‘Shine On’. It features marvellous performances from a classic Climax line up with Peter Haycock at the helm on lead guitar and vocals.
Peter is joined by Colin Cooper, the deep toned vocal-meister and superb alto sax player. They are boosted by a super tight rhythm section comprising Derek Holt (bass) and John Cuffley (drums). Climax romp through eight raunchy tracks, including ‘Makin’ Love’ (also released as a single) and the stomping boogie ‘Champagne & Rock’n’Roll’. A cover of Tony Joe White’s ‘The Gospel Singer’ comes complete with soulful backing vocalists.

Pink Floyd's Shine On Live CD which was issued in September of 2009 is a great companion to the album version of the video which this comes from which is Delicate Sound of Thunder
Pink Floyd's second concert video entitled Delicate Sound of Thunder was released in June of 1989 (the satellite album was released in November of 1988) and now available on DVD (and CD) as Shine On - Live due to license from Columbia Music Video running out and also David Gilmour, Nick Mason and the late Rick Wright's disowning of Delicate Sound in general.
The album (and video) was recorded and filmed over five nights at the Nassau Coliseum in New York in August of 1988 (the end of the regular Momentary Lapse tour '87-'88 and directed by video director Wayne Isham (Bon Jovi, Rolling Stones, Queensryche, etc.).

Shine On Live (aka: Delicate Sound of Thunder) is a Pink Floyd concert video taken from A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour. It was largely filmed during the concerts running from 19 August 1988 through 23 August 1988 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, with some additional footage from 21–22 June 1988 at the Place d'Armes of the Château de Versailles, Versailles, France (used to provide the performance of "The Great Gig in the Sky". Note that the Versailles show was only used for some of the video footage. The audio is from Nassau).
