During World War II the Nazis pillaged much of Europe's great art collections. Museum curator Ila Gardner and SS officer Rolf Hauptmann are forced by circumstances to play out an awkward and dangerous relationship in a public power struggle. Moving Pictures unfolds along two timelines which collide with the revelation of a terrible secret, an enigmatic decision that not many would make, and the realization that sometimes the only choice left is the refusal to choose.

It was recorded and mixed from October to November 1980 at Le Studio located in Morin-Heights, Quebec, Canada, and released on February 12, 1981. Moving Pictures became the band's highest-selling album in the United States, peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200, and it remains the band's most commercially successful recording…

Moving Pictures has become Rush's most successful studio album in the US with sales exceeding four million copies and a peak chart position of number three in Billboard. The band's complex songwriting and musical virtuosity reach new heights with this material despite the preponderance of shorter, more radio-friendly songs. Recorded and mixed at Le Studio north of Montréal, Moving Pictures includes the Rush signature tracks Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Red Barchetta and the band’s highly praised instrumental, YYZ, which earned Rush its first Grammy nomination. Rolling Stone named this album the third greatest progressive rock album of all time in a 2015 feature.

Moving Pictures is the intersection between Rush's '70s art-rock style and their sequencer-laced '80s efforts. An incredible stylistic leap for the band, the songs here incorporate reggae, percolating synth and even a new wave-tinged early '80s pop sensibility. 'Tom Sawyer,' the ultimate alienated-teen saga, is the album's best known song. 'Red Barchetta' picks up where 2112 left off with futuristic, sci fi-oriented lyrics. The instrumental 'YYZ' is as far into straight-up progressive rock as the band had ever ventured. Things get socio-political on the ominous 'Witch Hunt,' and a Jamaican flavor enlivens 'Vital Signs.' The increased reliance on synthesizers and sequencers would later become irksome to old school Rush fans, but on 'Moving Pictures', electronics are tastefully applied to further the group's musical vision, making for what just might be their finest batch of songs.

This groundbreaking book argues that health and medical media, with their unique goals and production values, constitute a rich cultural and historical archive and deserve greater scholarly attention. Original essays by leading media scholars and historians of medicine demonstrate that Americans throughout the twentieth century have learned about health, disease, medicine, and the human body from movies.
