John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's Saturday Night Live characters Jake and Elwood Blues grew out of their humble TV skit origins to become a bonafide pop-culture phenomenon with their hit movie and gleeful covers of soul, blues and R&B staples. The Best of The Blues Brothers is their fourth and final recording. It culls some of their most popular hits and includes previously unreleased live versions of “Rubber Biscuit” and “Expressway To Your Heart”.

"Gimme Some Lovin'" was a Top 20 Billboard hit, peaking at number 18. The album was a followup to their debut, the live album, Briefcase Full of Blues. Made in America is the third album by The Blues Brothers. The second live album by the band, it was released in December 1980 as a followup to their hit film released that year, The Blues Brothers. Commercially and critically it did not fare as well as their previous two albums, 1978's Briefcase Full of Blues and The Blues Brothers: Music from the Soundtrack. It was the band's last album with lead singer "Joliet" Jake Blues (John Belushi, who died in 1982).

As one of the most popular California pop/rock bands of the '70s, the Doobie Brothers evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S., along with a number of radio hits like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "China Grove." The roots of the Doobie Brothers lie in Pud, a short-lived California country-rock band in the vein of Moby Grape featuring guitarist/vocalist Tom Johnston and drummer John Hartman.

Well, this actually may be one of the best shows in quite a while. The Allman Brothers Band comes out and absolutely kills this Friday night set. The highlight of the show is a full rendition of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken?" in the middle of an epic Whipping Post jam encore. But really, this entire show was great. You shouldn't still be reading this - you should already be listening to the show.
