Guitar wizard Michael Schenker did some great work with UFO, but his Michael Schenker Group solo work was spotty. He hooked up with vocalist Robin McAuley to form the McAuley-Schenker Group, which still made the common MSG abbreviation possible…

Former UFO member Michael Schenker (younger brother to Rudolf of the Scorpions) really rips on the guitar. Songs like "Anytime" (a minor hit at #69 on the charts), "Get Down To Bizness" and "I Am Your Radio" really jam! Vocalist Robin McAuley has an incredible gravelly delivery, and sounds great (despite having one of the worst hairdos in 80's rock history!).

French jazz-pop chanteuse Florence K was born in Montreal in 1983 to guitarist/composer Hany Khoriaty and opera singer Natalie Choquette. After making her television debut at six, at 16 she toured behind her mother as a pianist, a year later playing her first solo gig. Florence K spent the next several years as the house pianist at Montreal's Stash Café, amassing an extensive repertoire of songs sung in French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish via infrequent leaves of absence to play limited residencies everywhere from Atlantic City to Casablanca to Hanoi. In 2005, Florence K issued her debut LP, Live au Lion d'Or, on her own Red Blues label. Bossa Blue followed in mid-2006. ~by Jason Ankeny

Jazz / World Fusion / Indie / Indian / Dark Ambient / Avant-Garde / Dub / Experimental Rock

Originally released in 1988, this album marked one of the truly successful world fusion creations, which Rhythm Magazine said symbolizes "the birth of a new era in music". It's a direct, transcendent exchange between six acclaimed musicians from diverse cultures, including L. Shankar, Zakir Hussain, Nicky Skopelitis, Daniel Ponce, Aiyb Dieng and producer/bassist Bill Laswell. This CD is a true American melting pot of deeply tangled roots, merging East and West to create a new music soundscape. At it's core, there's Indian music, and somewhere underneath lies flashes of the slow rustic lope of American country music.
