SBB is one of the most important Polish bands of the seventies. This band, rightfully listed in the eclectic progressive genre, mainly plays a hybrid of symphonic prog, space/atmospheric prog and fusion.
Polish act SBB has been around in one form or another for 40 years or thereabout at this stage, and even if they've had their pauses along the way this is still an impressively long career for a band. They have an extensive back catalogue at this point, with about 50 more or less official releases in various formats. "SBB" is the most recent of these, the studio album released by Metal Mind in the spring of 2012.
Last before SBB break-up, this is definitive SBB album, and some says it may be definitive even for whole prog-rock. Talking about style, it may be compared with UK/Danger Money, but in my. opinion this one is much more fascinating and original. This album has incredible diverse sound, broading from orchestral through jazz-rock to blues, and every piece has its own climate (e.g . "Strategy of Pulse", which refers in some parts to early, Mahavishnu-influenced SBB, or "The Triangle of Joy" with mediterranean glimpses) , coparing with previous jazz-rock and electronic shaded SBB releases this one is more in symphonic-rock direction.
Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
The first ever release of SBB and it's a Live album!
Already experienced musicians stretching out in a fashion that prior to this LP was unheard of in Eastern Europe. Indeed, rather uncommon anywhere else. Largely due to this work, SBB have actually established a new genre and influenced numerous other bands that sprung up like mushrooms as a consequence.
Having enjoyed SBB 2nd and 3rd album I finally get used to the kind of music they play and I think this 4th album "Ze Słowem Biegnę Do Ciebie" is the best for my personal taste. This does not mean to undermine their previous albums. And now I know why my colleague collaborator Stephen Lang told me that he adores the band which by the time he told me I had no idea what SBB is.
