Defoe's Journal of the Plague Year is an extraordinary account of the devastation and human suffering inflicted on the city of London by the Great Plague of 1665. Purporting to be an eye-witness, Defoe's fictional narrator recounts in vivid detail the rising death toll and the transformation of the city as its citizens flee and those who remain live in fear and despair. Above all it is the stories of appalling human suffering and grief that give Defoe's extraordinary fiction its compelling historical veracity. The lively Introduction relates the Journal to Defoe's best-known work, Robinson Crusoe, and draws on recent research into the publishing environment of the first edition.

Daniel Grau has recorded eight legendary LPs between 1974 and 1983; all of them never available outside of Venezuela though. Born 1948 in Caracas the thoroughbred musician first and foremost was one of the most sought-after studio engineers in his country. Almost any respectable artist in Venezuela (Vytas Brenner, Aldemaro Romero, Aditus, La Misma Gente etc.) was at least once in the El Palacio De La Musica-Studios taking advantage of Daniel Grau's mastery. Just for the fun of it Grau asked some of the musicians who frequented the studio on a regular basis to use the free studio time to record some own songs and compositions under the name of „La Orquestra De Daniel Grau“.

David Drake,"The Far Side of the Stars"
Publisher: Baen | ISBN: 074347158X | edition October 1, 2003 | PDF | 448 pages | 1.1 mb

Readers who have been entranced by the previous adventures of Daniel Leary and Adele Munday (With the Lightnings , 1998; Lt. Leary, Commanding , 2000) will sigh with relief to see them again. After settling a few family matters on Cinnabar with the high body count usual for Adele, the pair re-embarks aboard Princess Cecile . Their old ship has been sold out of the navy, however, and is now the private yacht of the Klimovs, two mad Russians touring the stars in search of big game, high stakes gambling, and the priceless Earth Diamond–the last known map of old Earth. With Daniel and Adele doing teamwork, the quest is successful, despite the Klimovs' best efforts and a rogue Cinnabar naval squadron. By then the duo has stumbled on an Alliance plan to stage a Pearl Harbor and must trade the diamond for Cecile , which they turn back into a highly successful warship.
