According to the press release, the album is "deliberately shorter than previous albums, [as] the band sought to concentrate their trademark heaviness into shorter, punchier songs and fit the album onto a single vinyl LP." "Whilst this is definitely not a concept album, there is a loose lyrical theme relating to the pleasures and weaknesses of the flesh."Initially announced for release on May 27th, the CD release was delayed, as there was a problem with the booklets and they needed to be reprinted. A post on the Lord Vicar Facebook page confirmed the album was out on the 17th of June. The band also confirmed via Facebook that the CDs were made with all songs combined into one track by mistake. The cover artwork is a segment of the painting "Nymphs and Satyr" (1873) by French academic painter William Adolphe Bouguereau.
