Around the time this 1980 album came out, James Mtume and his partner, Reggie Lucas, were known for their excellent production work with singers like Phyllis Hyman and Stephanie Mills. Mtume and Lucas are also skilled musicians, as demonstrated here. Mtume contributes lead vocals and background vocals and plays keyboards and percussion, while Lucas shines in his lead and rhythm guitar playing and joins in the background vocals as well.
"In Search of Sanity" is the third studio album by English thrash metal band Onslaught, released in 1989. With several changes in the band's line up, including the addition of Grim Reaper vocalist Steve Grimmett, the album contains a more polished sound than previous Onslaught albums, meeting mixed views by their fans. It is Onslaught's last album before they disbanded in 1991 and the release of their fourth album, Killing Peace, in 2007. This album was a milestone in thrash/heavy metal music and still sounds great today!
When musician Emeli Sande gave up her training as a medical student and was seeking inspiration for her first album, she had a tattoo of the artist Frida Kahlo inked onto her forearm. Frida Kahlo was born in Mexico in 1907 and died there in 1954. As an artist she is best known for her self portraits, but her work is celebrated in her homeland as emblematic of a nationalist and indigenous tradition and is widely admired by feminists all over the world. Emeli is now herself a global success story. In this film, she makes a personal journey to Frida's home town, Mexico City, where she learns how her heroine overcame illness, betrayal and a terrible bus accident to establish herself as one of the most acclaimed women artists of all time.
