Maria del Rosario Mercedes Pilar Martinez Molina Baeza, professionally known by her stage name CHARO, is a Spanish-American actress, singer, comedienne and flamenco guitarist who was well known for her flamboyant style and her catchphrase "Cuchi-Cuchi.” Having married Latin superstar Xavier Cugat in 1966, who had taken Charo on as his protégé, this all round performer racked up a multitude of film and television appearances (alongside her musical career - she was voted Best Flamenco Guitarist twice in Guitar Player Magazine) throughout the 60's and 70's which helped to make her a household name in the U.S.A. Charo even had a spell headlining her own shows in Las Vegas.

Drawing inspiration from his family’s collection of 78’s, BILLY PAUL would incorporate Jazz, R&B and Pop into his style, resulting in a unique sound that became synonymous with Philadelphia International Records.

Shalamar’s Friends was one of the biggest and most celebrated classic soul albums of the 1980s. BBR is proud to present the first ever deluxe edition of the album. Shalamar was formed in 1977 by Dick Griffey, the booking agent for the legendary R&B TV show Soul Train, and British music producer, Simon Soussan. Initially they used faceless session musicians but when their first single, ‘Uptown Medley’ (R&B #10 / Pop #25) found chart success Griffey created a permanent group.

THE SALSOUL ORCHESTRA was the brainchild of once MFSB member and legendary vibraphonist, Vince Montana Jr. Formed in 1974, THE SALSOUL ORCHESTRA, house band for the remarkable Salsoul Records, sometimes featured up to 50 members amongst its ranks including a number of former musicians from MFSB, and fused elements of Funk, Latin, Disco and Philly Soul into their compositions. THE SALSOUL ORCHESTRA began an eight-year recording period in 1975 releasing eleven sensational albums during that time featuring production input from, Stan Lucas, Patrick Adams, Bunny Sigler and Tom Moulton through the years.
